ASD Update

So the therapist is done with her part of the ASD evaluation and has faxed it to someone else who will call me to set up the next part which will probably be a few months out. I told her I don’t do the phone, she said to let her know when they call and she’ll contact them and tell them to email me. So it’ll be months before knowing. 

We talked about adulting today. To get ready for transferring and moving out I’m going to do some exposure. My goal is to try and go out to eat alone for lunch twice a week to unfamiliar places. It can be quick places like Jamba Juice or Baja Fresh or a chain I go to normally but a different location like BJs. This week I’ll only go once. 

I’m making a list of adulting and things I have a hard time doing I’ll need to adjust to, moving out. Any suggestions I’d appreciate my parents do pretty much everything so I’m new to figuring it out. 

  1. Showers instead of baths
  2. Eating out alone
  3. Cooking
  4. Dishes
  5. Clothes shopping
  6. Getting along/having a roommate 
  7. Changing clothes/hygiene?
  8. Eat more diverse food

    If you’re like me, as long as hygiene is on the list, then you’re good. My biggest struggle

    I’ve had to do these type of “stretching” exercises myself. Here are a few big ones (to me) I just started reading your blog so some of these may not be an issue for you. 1) make a telephone call to someone you’re not particularly thrilled to talk to. 2) make a decent sized grocery list which forces you into all areas of the store. Go on a Saturday or Sunday when they’re busier. 3) Sit alone in a coffee house without a computer or a phone. 4) Set up a meeting several weeks in the future and try to keep any fears /anxieties/etc clear during the time that passes. Don’t create a reason NOT to do the meeting for the sake of relieving the feeling. 5) Drive to an area of town / out of town where you aren’t surrounded by your normalcy and get gas. 6) Go to a mall on Saturday at 2pm. Go into extremely busy stores and browse. Those are things that push me to the edge. I’m not sure what your tests are. But those are some ideas. 🐦

      Phone is a big issue for me. Grocery store is not as bad as our neighbor is a checker. Sitting alone in a coffee shop would be hard, that’s similar to going to lunch alone; especially with the condition of no smart phone. Yeah and meeting um no.

    what about taking meds, safe keeping of meds? also laundry? also talking to professionals like insurance doctors others your parents may have talked to to set up apts for you? XX
