Ten Times… Day 5

14 Jul

  1. Happy Accidents- Jane Lynch a book that helped me when I was first struggling with the idea of coming out and also gives some of her family history.
  2. It Gets Better Project- I hate watching videos and it makes me really uncomfortable but reading stories in the It gets better book was helpful also when struggling with my sexual identity.
  3. DSM IV- Mental illness diagnostic book where I’ve gotten my many changing diagnosis to finally what I think’s accurate.  With out the diagnosis I couldn’t get treatment.
  4. My blog and WordPress in general- a place to vent, advocate, and educate.  Somewhere to connect with others and offer/receive advice and support.
  5. Get me out of here- An autobiography of living with Borderline Personality Disorder, one of the first books I read on BPD that I could relate to.
  6. Schizoaffective Disorder Simplified- A book on schizoaffective disorder, books on this disorder are hard to come by and I knew nothing about it when first diagnosed.
  7. SMASH* Journals- These are journal with pre-decorated pages and sometimes fill in the blank.  Smashbooking is one of my hobbies and if you search for it on my page you can see some examples I have done.
  8. The Bible- During about a 3 year period I was hyper religious and read the whole bible, including the not so interesting parts like Numbers.  While I don’t currently attend church, I still consider myself religious.  There are great concepts and history in the Bible.
  9. My Wellness Journal I made- A journal I made to help me through the tough times, inspiration from myself and others are in it.
  10. The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook- specifically a worksheet on observe/describe and emotional regulation.
