Coping that works for me: Taking a bath

31 Dec

When you learn DBT, some of the main things are about mindfulness and pleasurable activities.  Taking a bath is self-soothing, a component of emotional regulation as well as a pleasurable activity for me.  I can also add bubble bath or scents to bring me a little more mindful and into the moment.  I use to self harm in the bath tub so that is a trigger for me, if I feel like self harming I know not to use this coping skill.

i haven’t felt comfortable taking a bath since I moved into my partner’s parent’s house but baths were a huge part of my self care! (Great excuse to buy mass amounts of pretty smelling soaps!)

Yeah, sometimes I just take the bubble bath and dip my finger in it and then rub it under my nose, like i’m drawing a mustache so you get the smell, if I can’t take a bath.

Yes one of my favorite scents is lavender, so a lavender bubble bath is divine.

I'l love to hear your thoughts
