Coping skills that work for me: listening to music

musicListening to music was my #1 coping skill.  When I had the voices bothering me I would blast music on ear phones to help drown them out.  I also feel like I can relate to a lot of song lyrics, that’s actually why I have a category called songs with lyrics bolded that particularly  relate to me.  Also some songs bring back positive memories and can help change my mood.  Like listening to a song that I’ve heard in concert.

    I find music very therapeutic at times, especially when my mood is dipping. I’ve got a catalogue of songs that remind me of certain moods and experiences, whether it’s when I’ve felt ‘high’ and hypomanic or when I’ve felt depressed. Alongside poetry, I find music a great comfort!
