30MIAC Day 10: Round Up/Results

22 Oct

MIA challenge

So here are the round up people who participated in responding to my tenth prompt on the 30 Days of Mental Illness Awareness Challenge. If you participated and I haven’t added your post here, please pingback to the main challenge page with prompts or tag your post 30MIAC.

Day 10: What is the best thing in regards to your mental illness(es)?

From Pieces of Me which talks about empathy:

When you’ve felt completely out of control, and behaved in ways that are completely out of character, and done awful things to people that you truly love, its a lot easier to see how someone else could do the same.  Its a lot easier to see how things outside of our view could be affecting someones behavior.  Its a lot easier to try to look and see whats going on with this person, that may have led to this.  When you’ve done things that make you feel like a monster, its easier to understand that someone can do something horrible and not be a bad person, or all bad.  Its easier to understand mistakes.  Its easier to see how experiences can shape you.  Its easier to see the beauty in tragedy.  To see the cracks in the light.  It opens you up to things that other people often miss entirely.

From All That I Am, All That I Ever Was a very insightful statement that:

In all honesty, whether I can see the ‘good’ things that my mental illness(es) have brought my life depends on the day. Some days I absolutely hate them and all the pain, devastation and isolation they’ve brought my life; but others I worship all of the things that would never have happened were it not for my mental illness(es).

From Remember to Breathe which includes how OCD has given her a drive that has got her to where she is today.

And my answers which focus on empathy and the wonderful people I have met in the blogging community.

From Beyond Normal which talks about how finding out there are others with bipolar has helped her.

From Second Chances which includes an ability to write and express herself and her illness in spite of not always being able to talk about it.

From Fashion Anxious who combines prompts 10 & 11, she doesn’t see any pros other than community and as for cons misses her old carefree self.

From That’s Crazy who says: “I think the best thing for me is the amount of positivity and perseverance I have had to develop.”

From Battling the Demons Within who combined answers to prompts of day 10 &  11, in regards to the best thing she thinks she has a better understanding of people and in regards to the worst is the stigma.

From Pride in Madness who talks about her anger and how it has helped her to stand up for herself as well as participate in mental health activism.

From Crazy Gurl who talks about her struggle to see anything good coming from her life but does enjoy talking to her therapist.

**Thanks to all who participated and continue to spread the word**
