MIA challenge

So here are the round up people who participated in responding to my eighth prompt on the 30 Days of Mental Illness Awareness Challenge. If you participated and I haven’t added your post here, please pingback to the main challenge page with prompts or tag your post 30MIAC.

Day 8:  What age you were diagnosed at?  At what age do you think your symptoms began? (You can make a timeline)

*Some of these prompts including my own answer day 8 & 9’s prompts in the same post.  They will be linked here and on day 9*

From Pieces of Me which talks about not knowing when she was officially diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, because she was told years later, which is similar to me and many others I have met with that specific diagnosis.  Also seeing signs of mental illness as a child.

From All That I Am, All That I Ever Was which includes a timeline drawing (6 pages) of important events in his life, that he did in a Mi Recovery Group.  His is one of the posts that combine day 8 & 9.

From Remember to Breathe which includes being diagnoses at age 25 but having symptoms for as long as she can remember.

From Shapeshifters: Being diagnosed with Dissociation which talks about diagnosis of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) at age 34 but having symptoms of dissociation before kindergarten which was when abuse started.

From Battling the Demons Within which includes most diagnoses happening in the teens and 20’s and the problem of multiple diagnoses and keeping track of when each was diagnosed.

From A Life of Madness who combines answers to prompts 7 and 8 together, she talks about being diagnosed with Bipolar in college and PTSD and anxiety after a friend’s suicide.

From Beyond Normal who says she was diagnosed when she was 16 years old.

And my answers which include an image I made in the windows program paint, it has diagnosis and symptoms as well as life events.  It is a post that combines day 8 & 9.

From Searching for a Quiet Mind which includes symptoms and diagnoses from age 7-16, all of which she still deals with today.

From Pride in Madness where Kristen talks about the age she was officially diagnosed but adds:

“When do I think my symptoms began? Part of the reason I do not view myself as sick, reject psychiatric drugs and dislike psychiatry is because I know that I was born more sensitive than others. My Mother tells me that I experienced attachment issues and was always shy. I overcame them but it did make me susceptible to certain people and situations that did not help me emotionally.”

From Second Chances where she talks about not being diagnosed until 37 but looking back seeing signs of anxiety, self-loathing, PTSD, OCD, and two bouts of postpartum depression.

From Fashion Anxious who combined days 8 & 9, she was only recently diagnosed in July and has a short time line including events such as graduating, moving, and starting her blog 🙂 and when symptoms such as panic attacks and when Agoraphobia developed

From That’s Crazy who was diagnosed with depression at age 12.

From You Won’t Tame This Sassy Cat, who mentions being diagnosed with her main disorder last year and struggling with ADHD since a child, PTSD after a motorcycle accident and goes into detail about how flashbacks and such can be triggered, and the Seasonal Affective Disorder being diagnosed in 2007.

From Crazy Gurl who being diagnosed at 18 in college after taking a mental health quiz but believing the symptoms started at age 15.

From Lost on a Street Called Ethel who mentions hearing voices as long as she could talk and having imaginary friends that just never went away, she wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia until age 10 though.
